Sichuan Pavilion: Authentic Sichuan Cuisine in the Heart of DC

How have I forgotten to write a review for Sichuan Pavilion??? It is my absolute go-to in DC for mapo tofu. I don't get Chinese takeout often, but of the handful of places I've tried, this one tops them all. My partner is a fan of their Eggplant with garlic sauce and their vegetable lo mein. I'm not going to describe any of these in further detail because they're all so universal, if you've had a good version, you know, and they're all good versions here. Extremely generous portions, including of the complimentary white rice, and the service is quick and very courteous. Being near Farragut Square makes it super convenient to get to, too.

Hands down THE BEST Chinese restaurant in DC. Everything is amazing-- I always order the fish in hot sauce, eggplant, and chicken with dry peppers. The service is great and the ambiance is very casual-- good to come with a large group of friends to share many dishes.

Cute place! You get hot tea with your meal. The servers were so nice they even boxed up our food. I also tried the spring rolls everything was good!

We randomly chose a Chinese Sichuan restaurant after touring the National Memorial in DC. Didn't expect authenticity, just wanted food, but were pleasantly surprised by the decent food quality. The serving speed was also very fast. Highly recommended, and we'll come again.

Every time I come to DC, I always stop by this place and I am never disappointed. I came towards the end of dinner service so you could tell we had to be quick. We ordered the tea smoked duck, Dan Dan noodles, Mapo tofu and the pepper salt wings. My favorite was the Mapo tofu followed by the tea smoked duck. The Mapo tofu has just enough spice and despite me not liking tofu, I love this dish! The tea smoked duck comes with little bao buns so that you can put the duck in with the glaze that they have. Overall one of my favorite spots and a must try if you're in DC

Came to dine in for Christmas dinner and once again it did not disappoint. There was a slight wait time for 2 people but took less than 10 minutes for a table. Once we sat down we were greeted and served very quickly, with our order arriving just as fast. The pan fried dumplings and hot and sour soup are great starters, and the ma po tofu is still one of the best dishes here! The shrimp lo mein was delicious as well and we loved the kung pao chicken. Overall a great meal and large portions that allowed us to take a lot home.

Hands down, the best Chinese restaurant in DC. I found it by chance this fall near school and have been a regular since. The place has a traditional Chinese decor, a quiet atmosphere, efficient service, and reasonable prices - all of which make it stand out in this city. With that said, the food here is exceptional. I've been visiting almost every other week and have tried a variety of dishes. My favorites are the spicy boiled fish, twice-cooked pork belly, and salt and pepper squid. The twice cooked pork belly was incredible, maybe the best I've ever had. Another thing worth mentioning: if you pay with cash on a weekend, you get 10% off sooo pretty shweeet I'd say

Back again after a year and you've still got it. The ambiance is friendly and it's a busy but comfortable place. I see some people say it feels confining but it really isn't. There's plenty of room, and personally I like the buzz in the restaurant. Many of the folks are speaking Chinese so I can't understand them anyway but that adds to the the charm for me :) (I live in a very multicultural neighborhood in CA). The food was great again. I started with some hot and sour soup which in years past was maybe a little too authentic but is now more mainstream and I really liked it. Next some Dan Dan noodles and they had a nice serving of sauce and vegetables. The Kung Pao chicken was also fun but the winner every time is the dry fry shrimp. They make it HOT if you ask, and I did. Just make sure you have a beer or something to turn off the heat but this is the best I've had. See you in spring 2024!

Came in as a group of 4, and feasted for only $130 total! We came in starved after the Cherry Blossom festival and this hit the spot (perfect level of stuffed) We all ordered something different to share and it all tasted amazing. The spices hit the spot and the herbal canned beverage we got was the PERFECT compliment to the dishes. My favorite combination was the Ma Po Tofu and Shrimp Scrambled Eggs, elite taste. Plain rice and hot tea come complimentary. You may also save 10% on your bill if you pay in cash. Service was quick and efficient, sometimes there was a language barrier but it all adds to the experience. If you're craving authentic Chinese food, head on over!
